BIG breaker bar. Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Mon, 16 Apr 2012 06:11:50 In Reply to: Re: rear shocks, Tulsaab [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 15 Apr 2012 08:09:10 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a very beefy 4' long 3/4" drive breaker + though I wish it didn't swivel at the head (introduces play) cracking that lower bolt is an absolute breeze (with a 12 point socket)... hardest part is getting the socket on.
I wish I had air tools, but the electric impact wrench I do have makes jobs like this quick and easy (so Tulsaab's advice is well taken if you don't have any sort of impact wrench already, might be a good time to get a decent air setup... but it's not essential to do the job)...
search this bb for tips. I did mine with Koni yellows on all 4 corners on the + setting (180 degrees iirc) and it's great. If your shocks don't have locknuts, it is advisable to use loctite on the upper nuts... I had one side come loose even though I tightened the nuts together carefully, our crappy roads managed to vibrate them off!
good luck!
