Just an update on the remote start in case someone else will have the same issue.
The previous owner gave me 3 keys, he always buys an extra key he told me. So I remembered after reading many posts someone mentioned that one can place the key in the ignition, then turn it to the "on" position without starting the car. Then if you press on the trunk button the SID will tell how many keys you have. Well I changed the batteries on two of the keys only and when I tried it it did not work. So I tried the third key, which I did not remove the battery from, and it worked!
I also realized that in order for the remote to work I had to literally stand by the driver side door, 1 foot from it.
The other two keys still did not work. Then I read someone was saying they removed the key battery again and installed it next to the car, then pressed the open button 4 times. When I did this it worked! I am not sure if this has to do with being next to the car or pressing the button immediately after installing the battery but this is definitely the trick that works.
