Subframe bushings! Very nice! Posted by B Millar [Email] (#1109) [Profile/Gallery] (more from B Millar) on Fri, 25 May 2012 08:08:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've put over 40k miles on my '04 Aero in the past 12 months and it was time to give it some attention, something I haven't had to do much of since picking up this car way back in 2008. It was all kinds of creaky and clunky up front so I brought it in and it was very clear my subframe bushings were toast at 105k miles. The rear of the subframe was pretty much resting on the frame of the car, giving me a horrendous metallic creaking sound every time I accelerated from a stop. I finally had time to have all six bushings replaced last week and the car feels GREAT!! It really tightened up the front end, idle vibration is reduced, and I no longer have a teeth-chattering vibration when I feather the gas pedal in traffic. It was like driving a noodle.
I also put new Conti DWS's on it, and replaced the factory rear pads and rotors (which by the way were warped and causing my steering wheel to jiggle; glad I didn't replace the fronts too). So putting a few bucks into this car made it feel like new. All set for another 105k miles!
