I have the same problem on my '06 9-5 5 speed. Sometimes it takes several attempts to start, other times it goes days without the symptom. Does not matter which key I use.

I am finding that unless the key is firmly pushed down before turning it, I get the intermitant no start or starter just engages for a second. A firm push down seems to generate a small click and the key settles in a hair deeper for a normal start. I am starting to suspect the ignition switch is bad.

And I'll bet that if I can't key a replacement key, good luck on a whole ignition switch.
