So, after 4 years or so "between Saabs", I'm back where I want to be. Bought a 2000 9-5 base model yesterday, 115K miles (!!!), automatic, 4 door.
So far, I've had the oil and filter changed, and replaced the wounded DI cassette with one I had from my previous 9-5. I was getting the usual codes for bad plugs (they're right, and browned but fine) or bad DI cartridge. So I put in the DIC that I had swapped out of my previous 9-5 when I thought it was that, but when it was actually the crankshaft position sensor.
And, I don't know what this Pictacha stuff is so pardon the random selections that are apparently mandatory before I can post. How Saabnet has changed...
Anything other than the obvious fluids and filters swap-out that I should do or check at this time? The wheel bearings sound louder than I'd like, or it's the tiger-paw tires, not sure yet...anything else to look at carefully on a 12 year old 9-5?
Eh...credentials...my first Saab was a '71 Sonett, followed by a bunch of 96s and 95s. Also a 99T and a 900T, and the '99 9-5SE and now the '00 9-5. I think that's all of them. Er, and a 93F that needs a new floor.
