Need help with warm-up problem

'02 Aero, Automatic, 137k miles

I just replaced the alternator, but I don't know if there is a relationship.

The car starts right up and initially drives normally. After 5-10 minutes of driving the engine rpms begin to move up and down slightly and the car will stall at a light unless I go into N and keep the revs up. After a few more miles of driving the problem disappears. The problem seems to be worse when it is hot outside.

Any ideas?
