I've been reading posts regarding radiator removal. The WIS says to remove some turbo plumbing and then remove the fans by slipping them between the turbo intake and core support. The radiator seems to come out the same way. I've also seen someone nearly take the entire front of the car apart to do this job - maybe it was on a V6. We have an '04 Aero with four. My local Saab Indie gets $500 for the radiator job complete. They charge $350 for a Behr radiator and then the balance for roughly two hours labor. I know Nissens radiators are avialable for around $200.
Any tips on what kind of small plastic clips and so-on to buy? I figure I'll need the special remote clamp removal pliers too. I can get a good set from Snap-On for around $60. Sears sells them for $35. Anyone have experience with either? No one ever mentions a tool to separate the lower hose from the pump input pipe. I've seen screwdriver type tools for that. How about AC and power steering hoses. Do they get in the way? Any suggestions on how to move them.
