So, with my trip looming (tomorrow) I call the locksmith who mangled my last key to see if they had procured a replacement yet. Sure enough, I was free to drive the hour trip and get the key. When I arrive, they had already cut the key to match the "good" half of the previously mangled key. They checked it against the original, lonely key and felt pretty good about it. About 30 minutes later my 2 yr old (am I crazy?) was hoping for some fresh air so we head outside. Lo and behold, the hatch of my car is open and the inside panel hanging down. Long story short, they broke one of the attachment points on the panel because they didn't know how it came off and cracked the lens near the key hole because they were using the lens as a pry point. All this due to the key permanently stuck in the cylinder. 3 hours later the key had been broken off and they place paid me for the first key I brought them. Two days lost, two keys destroyed, cosmetic damage to my car and still no key. I'm currently waiting to hear if the dealer can order the key per the ignition cylinder code rather than my VIN... something I should have done in the first place.
