Springs sag Posted by saabsince 93b [Email] (#972) [Profile/Gallery] (more from saabsince 93b) on Wed, 26 Dec 2012 11:21:36 In Reply to: Re: 2001 9-5 Wagon problems, Ride Height, jeff02 [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 26 Dec 2012 09:45:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Saab springs sag with age. Especially on the wagon. Now springs are not always the solution as these can sag quickly too. Spacers are a good idea. In addition to rubbing you get increased toe in, and increased camber which can lead to bad tire wear if severe enough. Shocks don't really affect ride height.
BUT if you put on Konis in the rear, there are 2 spring perch adjustments. They come stock at the low setting......which is way too low. You have to move the wire ring that supports the spring perch up to the higher setting.
Measure ride height in the rear:
16"wheel 605mm 17"wheel 620mm 17"Aero 610mm
figure out how much you have to go up. Koni spring perch difference is about 1.7" so that alone will bring you up a bit.
All instructions are in the WIS manual.
