SAAB didn't get it much more right in all those years. I had an '02 Aero that I totaled at 143K miles and replaced with a CPO '08 Aero. I bought the '08 with 15K miles, and at 20K I needed an alignment with shims for the rear suspension. By 60K I needed a new coolant bypass valve. Same car, same quirks. Unless you find a newer car with the upgraded leather option, you'll miss the very supple leather of the '02, and the carpets/mats don't compare at all. DON'T interpret any of this to be negative - I love the '08 as much as I did the '02, I'm just saying the car didn't evolve to perfection. I do like the manual mode of the newer automatic, as one can hold the car in second gear, and that couldn't be done with the older gearbox controls. If you can find the right car, go for it, as it may end up being your last SAAB. My '08 probably is for me. BTW, I'm at 115K miles now. I already have the car's replacement - a '12 Mercedes E350 Bluetec. I can't bring myself to let go of the SAAB though. Something very endearing about them....
