Trouble installing Wazee idler pulley

I got a Wazee idler pulley for my 2004 Aero a little while ago and went to install it over the holidays. Now I'm wishing I'd just stayed with stock, since it doesn't seem to fit very well.
I bought the bolt and spacer for it, but those were totally worthless. The bolt that came was an M8, when it should have been an M10, and if you use the spacer then the pulley won't fit on the existing boss. I called the company and they said just to use the original bolt, which is fine, but it says on the pulley package, in big letters, "Must use supplied bolt and spacer".
So I put the new pulley on the existing boss but it seems to rub pretty badly on the engine. I guess I need a shim of some sort in there (not supplied with the pulley). Also the boss is only about half the depth of the pulley which makes it seems that it is not mounted very securely.
Anybody else have these issues and any advice? The company didn't seem to helpful when i called them, so i thought I might have better luck from you guys!
