Be cautious of what suggestions you take from this site. The crowd here is mainly USA, and we never got any diesel Saabs.
1-Diesels don't have throttlebodies or throttle plates, they pull no vacuum on the intake manifold. All engine control is done with fuel injection. 2-Never never never use starting fluid in a diesel. Ether is more combustible than gasoline, when compared to diesel its putting a liquid bomb in your engine. 3- You dont have an DIC/IDM. Diesels have no ignition system. Simply glow plugs to help heat the combustion chamber on cold start.
After going though WIS and learning the basics about your PSG16 fuel injection system, I would suggest reading the specific fault code given by the ECM with a Saab Tech2. Change your fuel filter if you have not already. There are only a few main components for the injection system (ECM, AMM, Injection Pump and TPS). Since its a temperature dependent fault, perhaps a coolant temp sensor? Throwing parts at your vehicle guessing is a waste. Take the $$ and have it properly diagnosed by someone in your area familiar with Saab and the diesel variants.
