A lot of times it is the two sway bar bushings.
If you disconnect the sway bar links and move the bar up and down, you might hear the groaning.
The problem is to get some rubber grease in between the bar and bushing since it is cramped quarters there.
And sometimes the grease doesn't help and you have the noise back a couple of months later and replacing the bushings with new ones are the only cure.
