Getting warm again, and 9-5 still getting slow...(long) Posted by Tulsaab [Email] (#31) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Tulsaab) on Sun, 2 Jun 2013 11:48:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I posted on this issue last year about driving to NM after a timing cover seal job, and my '07 9-5 having no pickup and terrible mileage (20 mpg highway). Since that time, i've done the following: new MAF, new DIC, new plugs, new air filter (K&N), new Intake/Manifold Pressure Sensors, new Turbo Bypass Valve, new Charge Air Control Valve, checked the intercooler hoses for leaks, and took it to my local master mechanic who spent a day trying to figure it out - even adjusted the engine timing, and couldn't get it whipped. I even took the car to Dr. Taliaferro (although his crew only had an hour to take a look at it), and they didn't find anything obvious - just updated the ECU software.
In the past week as it's now warming up to the 80's around here, i've started feeling the lack of urgency up to 3K RPM and noticed reduced mileage (low 20's highway).
So, after thinking about this, and noticing that my car has these problems as it gets hotter and hotter (both ambient as well as from driving), i'm wondering - could there be a hidden leak somewhere from the turbo to the throttle body? Something which manifests itself only when the car gets really hot? Also, what's the best way to confirm this? Would there be any way to confirm this with a Tech 2? (i.e., is there a table somewhere which shows what the Charge Air Absolute Pressure should be at a certain RPM and temp/dewpoint/sea level? Therefore, if it's lower, then there's a leak somewhere?)
This is my last idea before I take it back to Dr. Taliaferro and check it in for a few days. Although, being that i'm quite a drive from Springfield, I hope it doesn't come to that. Thanks!
