Break Booster Issues after Replacement Posted by jeff02 [Email] (#2992) [Profile/Gallery] (more from jeff02) on Sun, 2 Jun 2013 15:17:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Just did a break booster replacement. This is a 99 with the electric vacuum pump. The symptoms are strange...
Before the change
1) Low idle issues, stalling, etc also pump seemed to never stop, hard break pedal all the time.
2) Check the hose lines, replace the hard lines with soft lines.
3) Idle seemed to be better, but still hard break all the time.
3) Also tested with a 2nd pump, no changes
After the change
1) Idle is fine and pump stops
2) Break pedel is usually good the first time, then hard.
3) After a bit the break pedel is fine the first pump, then harder next pumps.
Seems like there is not enough vacuum to "recharge" the booster?
Has anyone seem something like this before?

Nice discussion of a break booster with diagram, mainly FYI
