wow, that's amazing. I have to soak every bolt for any job in penetrating fluid, and then use an impact wrench and/or big breaker bar... I bet the skiing is better near you also!
Most upper body rust is due to a seal breaking down and water getting in, but that should take years... window seals on our c900's are starting to go and they are hard to source, but that's at 20+ years... Mazda 3's here are notorious for weeping rust from the tail lights, rear wiper, and the badging even (would have thought those would be adhesive based)... I'd seen 3's in this state that were at most 4-5 years old, but was really shocked to see a Veloster that would be a year or less weeping any rust at all - I'd have thought galvinization would have protected against that? that said, galvinization has it's drawbacks: harder to paint, paint peels, rust eventually takes over (but slower)...
I hate rust... and salt...
