Hello folks. I've got a problem. I have a 2001 aero auto that has started to produce what i've read described as "torque converter shudder". I don't know even how to narrow the suspects down. The car works for a bit until warmed up and then shifts from 1-2, 2-3 and just barely 3-4 have a shudder and are slow to shift unless i'm really pushing on the gas. The fluid doesn't look great and has been drained/refilled about three times over the last month. I added some recommended stuff that claims it will lower tranny temp, etc. and smooth torque shudder and the likes, and it actually seemed to do just that for about 3 days. I know that the converter may have taken some stress when the engine was removed about 4 years ago and the lockout tool had fallen out while a friend was prying like a fool between the engine and bell housing. I know the converter was pulled some from the tranny but seemed to slip right back in. And, of course, I've put about 25,000 miles on the car since then.
I have avoided auto transmissions my whole life until this car. If you have any suggestions, please share. My first thought is just to install a used transmission that I might have access to but the car only has about 110,000 miles on it so i can't imagine the whole transmission being bad. Anyway, I welcome your thoughts.
Dan
