For the last 10 years I have been carrying a new ignition cassette in the back of my 2000 9-5 wagon. Back when the car was new we had one die and it almost stranded the car. There were reports of issues on the forum at the time too. There was a recall for software that was calling the cassettes to fail. As a precaution I bought a new one and dragged it around for the last decade.
The car developed the very slight stumble on light acceleration. Passengers could not feel it, but I knew something was amiss. A couple weeks ago I got a check engine light that would come an go. The scan tool told me it was a misfire.
I replaced the ignition module with my spare and the CEL went out the the car regained its smoothness. All is well.
I examined the old module and there was a small crack in the plastic piece between cylinders 3 and 4.
Just thought I would pass this on.
Drive Safe,
Joe
