still a great car, but you would be wise to go over it if you don't have history. Saab ironed out a lot of bugs in the first few model years. Would be wise to drop the pan and check/clean the screen if you don't already know that is ok. Also make sure it is on pcv#6 or if not, do it (cheap parts kit). Use Mobil 1 0W40 only (or equal spec) at 5k intervals from now on. 120k is low miles for a 1999, which is ok if it was not driven often, but taken up to speed for a while when it was driven (we do that). Maybe not so great if it was "driven to church" all the time (many short slow trips).
I'm not sure why you would buy something and then immediately ask if you should dump it? Why not check here first? With a bit of care and feeding, it should be a good car. As everyone noted previously, don't listen to your buddy. Run searches on this bb - lots of good advice!
