My bias against the green coolants is based on Tom Townsend's cooling system info for the older Saabs - c900, 9000 etc. Once he started switching his customers to merc coolant, all the hg jobs went away. He was seeing corrosion caused by the green coolant. Now, if you change the green crap really often, then it probably is ok, but most people don't change it enough, and most people don't keep their cars long enough to care about stuff like that... The 9-5 is a newer car than the 9000 and has different issues to a large degree, so this might not be the same level of concern as it once was. Regardless, the townsend pages are a good read and an excellent resource!
