I have heard this before as well, that is why we don't see ladder frames anymore, in other than pickup trucks which need that arrangement for towing capacity. The subframes are designed to be energy absorbing in case of a crash.
Unfortunately, this and independent suspension means more stuff to wear out and fix for the long term owner. Manufacturers really don't want us keeping these cars beyond 100k or so, it is not in their best interest. They want us to dump them and buy another.
But I can't imagine use of poly bushings having a major negative impact in crash performance.
