Repaired winter mats

Hi,
I purchased the Saab winter mats back in 2000 when I got my wagon. In 3 years the driver's mat started to crack in the plastic heal rest. I liked the mats and I purchased a second set. They lasted 3-4 years and the driver's mat did the same thing. I purchased another set. Now my mat is cracking again. Saab does not make these mats anymore.
I don't like the aftermarket alternatives, but I don't like the way my heal gets caught in the cracks either. Last night I fixed the mat with a piece of a rubber stair tread protector from Home Depot.
I cut a piece of the tread protector to be about 3/16" smaller than the existing plastic piece. I cleaned everything real well and stuck it down with contact cement. I used a 50lb tool box to clamp it. The tread and contact cement cost less than $10. I think it came out really nice.
