My '06 9-5 seems to have similar issue to below post. When air temp is below 50 degrees, the temp gauge always struggles to hit about 40% then drops to zero after ~12 min on the Hwy - every day on way to work. If I shut off the car and restart, then the needle goes back to 40% or even to the center if driving in town and doesn't drop again no matter the distance.

I replaced the temp sensor and Wahler thermostat, but it didn't fix the problem. I actually replaced both in March 2011, which did fix it for 2 years.

This time, I didn't align the T-Stat bleeder hole up as someone suggested on another post, not sure if that matters - and don't really want to take back apart to align...
