clutch pedal switch

2007, 9-5, manual transmission. The clutch pedal had to be pushed very hard to the floor to engage the clutch pedal switch (which allows juice to the starter motor). Silly me thought it was a failing switch, so I bought a new one and installed. During installation I noticed that when the pedal is pushed all the way to the floor the switch gets barely engaged. So it wasn't a switch problem, its the alignment of the switch mount w.r.t. the pedal travel.
Having grown up on C900 and 9000s, there's no need for this silly switch, I already know now to start a car with a manual transmission. So I wrapped it in electrical tape with the switch fully compressed and reinstalled, with plug back in place (easier than jumping the wires).
While doing this, I once again leaned too hard on the plastic molding that houses the seat motor controllers, broke its front attachment under the seat. This time I'll just use a big fender washer instead of replacing the molding. This sort of thing never happened on my SPG (no motors!) or any of my 9000s.
While ranting, wonder why Saab/GM thought it to be an improvement over the 9000 to have tiny storage pockets in the doors, a tiny storage bin under the arm rest, and what's with that uselessly small "shelf" at the bottom of the center console?
all the same, its a great car.
