AFAIK, there is no difference in US headlights and EU headlights as far as beam is concerned from 2002 on. I had a 2002 US car with Bi-Xenons, and the beam pattern was definitely EU, with the dead flat cutoff, and the angle up on the right side.
From 2002, the flat, plastic lens does nothing but protect the lens & bulb. All the beam shaping is in the reflector assembly. And around that time, the US "loosened" their headlight rules to allow the superior EU pattern on new vehicles, so car makers no longer needed to specially downgrade their headlamps for sale in the US...
The 1998-2001 cars have replaceable glass lenses. With those, simply changing the lens gives you the EU pattern, or at least most of it. Taliaferro sells the lenses for the early cars as a set.
