Full warranty at the dealer should cover all parts and labor. could depend on the claim. lots of variable. Is it a parts defect?
Replacement cat is generally just expensive parts wise.
And O.E.M. (original equipment manufacture) catalytic converters usually cost the most (especially when you buy them from the dealer!).
There is different range of after-market cats out there that are more affordable and just as good as OEM.
At the very least, if your paying out-of-pocket, don't let someone independent "hack job" your exhaust system.
Seen that too often on nice cars the deserve better.
