Pirelli Sottozero 3 - mini review

Purchased a set of Sottozero 3's (215/55-16) for '07 SportCombi Aero in November and couldn't be happier.
On cold dry roads, no worries, no need to back way off to compensate for having winter tires like on the Winter i-Pikes they replaced. They don't defy physics on snowy surfaces, but the handling has been terrific. I have blown past SUV's on a steep climb - while I was in the lesser plowed lane. Braking is even better. Wet handing also very good - way better than the i-Pikes. Haven't gone in deep snow, but the car becomes a sled pretty quickly when there's more than 4 inches on the road. Not enough miles to judge wear - hope they last.
Fuel economy is as good as the Conti DWS 235/45-17's on original rims, and the Pirellis are quieter than the DWS's.
The DWS's need replacement come spring. Will likely go Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric All Seasons due to the huge rebate right now.
I never had much positive to say about Pirelli tires but these have been a most pleasant surprise.
