What does a worn fuel pump act like?

2003 Aero wagon 87,000 miles
When on full throttle at higher speeds, the power deliver seems "bogged down". Seems to run out of torque. Power seems a bit fluttery at that point. Pump may not be able to deliver the required fuel rate as the required pressure. Everything else seems good. DIC is not old, fresh BCPRES11 plugs, always synthetic oil, not burning oil. No CEL codes.
Boost and power are great in city traffic. Running "ethanol free" 91 octane.
I had a issue like this decades ago where a Volvo hit a power limit, could not go faster that 80 MPG, new pump fixed that.
Do you think that is a worn pump? Gas tank is rather full. Does that present issues for pump replacement?
I have a pump on hand if needed.
