Ok. So since you did the job, you know how that o-ring went back into the groove and if you didn't have the right tools, you might not have gotten the ring tight enough and it could be as easy as tightening the ring down somewhat.
I don't know what technique you used last time but a couple of prybars held in a cross can sometimes give you enough force to rotate the ring.
Some have taken a piece of ABS pipe and cut grooves matching all ridges on the ring and then drill a hole across so that you can use a screwdriver to rotate it.
Or you could by the tool on e-bay for almost nothing.
