I agree that is is a crank position sensor. Very easy to replace.
less than $70 for Bosch one. the plastic protector can be removed easily and is also inexpensive if you choose to put a new one on.
Oil changes at 3000-5000 miles. Hold in reset for 15 seconds or so to turn off the reminder. As mentioned it is just triggered by mileage, not by a fault.
I have owned a 2001 Aero since new. I love it still. 200,000 miles and running well just did a 1000 mile trip. THIS IS A GREAT CAR!! Don't sell it.
