The original alternator failed and voltage dropped in our 2003 Aero at 106,000 miles. I replaced it with a reman Bosch and it started to squeal/chirp three years and about 37,000 miles later at 143,000. The bearings were going bad.
I'm not a mechanic but was able to pull the alternator out through the top. I also replaced the water pump after it started leaking thinking the squeak was related to it. But turned out to be alternator. Good luck.
