My experience and that of my friends that run indie shops is that when an AC system gets to ten or more years old, the compressor seals will start to go. Sometimes the system will hold vacuum when static but when the compressor starts spinning you get leaks at the dynamic seal. If you've already done the condenser and are confident you're lines and fittings are fine, I'd take a hard look at the compressor seals. If there there is dye in your system check, for wetness around the compressor especially behind the pulley and clutch.
A word of advice is to put the system in "econ" mode about a minute or two prior to shutting off the car. This gives the evaporator a chance to normalize (warm up). If the system is just shut off when the car is shut down, you can get ice buildup on the evaporator and that will eventually lead to a crack in a line or the evaporator. When that goes it can really be a bear to replace. In many cars it requires dashboard removal!
