in my experience compressed air was not enough.
I bought 6 ft of vinyl coated wire, 3/32 inch, from the hardware store (3 bucks). It's smooth, flexible, yet stiff enough to feed down the drain.
I didn't feel any resistance until about 5 ft into it. With some gentle persuasion it cleared the blockage.
When you do this be sure to fill the area with water first. You will know that you cleared the blockage when the area suddenly drains out. You won't know if the blockage is cleared otherwise.
