Used to live there myself (WA), winters can bring unbelievable snowfalls. I had a 4x4 F150 back in those days. Even SAT phones of limited use there. Breakdowns could be deadly.
I understand the alternator if original and water pump, if it has been there more than 80k or so. If you are just trying to get through this winter and dump the car next spring, thought a rear suspension redo at 200+ k was extreme, unless you were just going to put in some cheap shocks and spacers. All those rubber bushings are probably toast if original and the temptation to do it right can lead to scope creep and $$$. Then you have to get it aligned when done. On the other hand, if you want a few more winters out of it, it may be worthwhile.
Just didn't want to see you throw money into a hole, sometimes we get way too attached to these cars. Even if I really like the car, but the repairs (or preemptive repairs) are more than 60-70 % of car's value, it is gone. Never kept a Saab or anything else more than 200k, and never kept one long enough to be in the need to replace a engine, trans or even turbo in seven Saabs I have owned.
All of them nickel and dimed me after about 90k, seems like everything made out of plastic or rubber or had a computer chip in it craps out. At 114k, my 04 9-5 Aero needs a total suspension redo, subframe and control arm bushings, shocks, springs, struts, mounts, tie rod ends, and my A/C, being original will probably not make it more than another year or so, original alternator and fuel pump and my 3rd DI cartridge is likely due for failure, (only get 40k out of them) so my last Saab in over 30 years of Saab ownership will probably be gone by next spring. I miss my c900's and one of my OG9-3's but this one, not so much.
