The code 8 is most likely due to a broken stop arm on the drivers side. if the shaft is not broken you can replace the stop arm alone.
in regards to the clicking, these motors have a tendency for the shaft to "walk" outwards eventually disengaging the internal gear train. you can easily fix this by pressing the shaft back into the body of the motor. do this in a vise and slowly compress it.
note that the motor in its failed state looks perfectly normal. when you compress it in a vise you will see that the shaft moves in a small amount, rengaging the gear train and it will work normally again.
