if you just replaced the bypass valve last week , it is normal for the coolant system to need topping off . Check coolant level after the car has sat overnight . Refill and check again . It is a sealed/pressurized system that should have no leaks . Leaks happen , and can be pesky to fix .
Have you replaced the expansion tank cap ? I strongly suggest replacing them every 80k miles or so .If the bypass valve failed ,the cap is probably due .A new cap will get the system closer to ideal pressure , an old cap will only give you problems .
If the cap makes a "hissing" sound when being released when the system is cold , there probably are no leaks . If you replace the cap and there is no "hissing" sound , there are leaks . Be sure to only loosen the cap when the system is cool !
