If the harness have not been repaired before and moved around, it is enough cable slack inside the trunk so if you loosen the flex tube you can move enough cable from the trunk area and into the trunk lid effectively moving that chafed area to a position where it is not wiggling back and forth anymore but the flex will work on a new portion of the wire. That's what I do after having repaired the broken wires.
At some point, that area will also break but that's nothing to do about unless you want to take it up with the designers of that hinge and cable routing and have them come up with a new solution.
