Thank you for your reply AeroEd. My reference to the "boot gasket" came from a description of a DIC for sale online, (used). In the description it mentioned that if purchased, you would need to change the boot gaskets from your existing DIC to the one received.
Therefore, I am referring to the wrong component as the boot gasket. The DIC I am holding in my hand is manufactured in Amal, Sweden. It is a TK 4.6, B, 0548 manufacture date, F021750, SAAB 55561133.
The gasket I am referring to is 2" outside diameter, 1 5/8" inside diameter, approx 3/16" thick, and goes on the base of the hard plastic molding.
When I took it off only 1 of 3 were in place, the one in the middle. I can see that it appears 3 are necessary, to seat it properly and keep any oil, residue, etc. out, and away from plugs.
That is the origination of question about the gaskets. What are possible adverse effects of short term operating without, possibility of forming gaskets with a Permatex product, etc?
The actual rubber "boot" that hugs the plug is intact.
Thank you,
TKell
