Since Mike doesn't frequent the BB as much, owning an Ultimate Driving Machine, I thought somebody had to say it.
IF both are similarly equipped (I assume that they have all the bells and whistles, perhaps sans Navigation), and both are in similar condition, then you're obviously trading down some, in net worth. The 9-5 Aero Wagon/Combi is so awesome, and a car dealer needs to make money, so I would consider the trade.
IF the DIC hasn't been replaced on the '08, it could be due any time, or could go a few more years. They are so easy to replace, give you warning, and aren't too expensive, so I wouldn't consider that a major consideration.
Springs are a concern with any 9-5, wagons and sedans. IF the '08 isn't sagging now, perhaps you'll be good for awhile, assuming that you don't overload.
I would attempt to measure the '08 sag, and assuming that your '09 isn't presently sagging, AND the '08 is some, you could use that as a bargaining chip.
