Tonight I was going up an on ramp and gave it an aggressive push on the gas.
As the car accelerated the rmps / tach pegged, the dash lights came on.
I did not floor it so that was unexpected.
After releasing my foot from the gas the rmps did not drop, the engine shut its self down pretty darn quick.
All this occurred rapidly with in a few seconds.
I did not floor the gas pedal so I was surprised.
I did turn the key to off position one I stopped rolling.
I sat there for minute and wondered what happened. I heard no noises, smelled nothing odd.
I checked under the hood expecting to see fluids or whatever, nothing.
Checked the all fluids, nothing out of the ordinary was found.
Turned the key to see what lights Id find on the dash, all the norm.
Cranked it over and started no issue.
Went to the front of the car to look and listen again.
Odd sound, from pulley area, sort of like that of a power steering pump on low fluid but softer. PS reservoir was full.
Decided to find a parking lot and let it rest while I thought about it.
Added a little oil since things were frothy, as it always is this time of year.
started car after about 20 min. TCS light was on and would not go off.
car is now idling at about 1500 rpm.
still no smells, smoke or fluids loss. parked over fresh snow to help see anything dripping.
engine temp normal.
I decided to cancel my plans and turned around, head for home.
30 miles later no change. TCS light on, idle 1500.
The road is a hilly highway so the engine did have to work. Car did not stumble, I did not push it and ran conservatively.
What the heck?
Recent work done at dealership, oil pump gasket, crankcase seal, harmonic balancer, new serp belt.
I might disconnect the battery to see if the TCS resets.
Im stumped , any thoughts?
