Total Oil Change (Maximized Cleanliness) Posted by DnstrDan [Email] (#1361) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DnstrDan) on Fri, 24 Apr 2015 12:59:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just completed a two cycle Auto-RX+ clean and rinse regimen on my '99 SE 2.3 (lpt), using Pennzoil 5W-30 conventional oil with 3000 mile OCI. Last year, I dropped the oil sump, removed and cleaned the oil cooler and lines, rescreened the oil intake, and installed the Bobby Bright oil accumulator with access plate as well as PCV kit #6. The B235E engine is running strong at 172,000 miles. I'm ready to switch to Mobil 1 5W-40 TDT full synthetic. Since only 80% is changed due to residual oil in the cooler and lines, I pose the following questions to the board:
1) Should I drain the residual conventional oil from the oil cooler and lines?
2) Alternatively, should I run a short rinse (half hour) using semi synthetic oil?
3) Has anyone retrofitted the stock oil cooler lines with Aeroquip steel braided lines with drain ports, to facilitate a complete oil change each and every time?
