Preemptively replaced my MAF today

After hearing another cracked piston story from a guy at work that owns a 05 Aero Wagon. His mechanic told him a bad MAF was at fault. I had cleaned mine (04 Aero, 125k) a year ago, but that does nothing for the electronic box attached to it, so I thought what the heck, for 90 bucks and less than 5 minutes of work, this would be one less thing to worry about. I plan to do the same with the fuel pump as I am in the typical failure zone as far as age/mileage.
Oddly, the car seems to run better and idle smoother after the swap out. Maybe just a placebo effect?
One more thing, maybe we need to be careful about recommending "trouble free" vehicles to people. Everyone automatically thinks Honda or Toyota. Turns out, not so much anymore. My sister in law has a 2010 V6 Accord that is getting the engine replaced at 42k, turns out Honda has a serious problem with their V6 motors. The car burned a quart of oil every 500-600 miles. They were going to charge her 3,600 for the work at the dealer, but when I pulled up all the stuff on this on line, they backed off and will cover the repair. The dealer acted like no one had ever seen this before up until I presented them with all this stuff. Wonder how many people get ripped off like this?
