So in the end, I ordered 2 DIC's for about $150 ea from Rock Auto in the USA. Shipped Fedex ground in <5 days to Canada, all border fees or anything other than about $40cnd of tax collected at the time of purchase by Rock Auto. Smooth transaction!
These were the Airtex that cross references to Wells C1705 on Rock. Both units had "Made in Sweden" on just about every shipping label. Inside they are SEM TK3.7E.
Many thanks to everyone on this bb who gave the heads up! The local options would have cost as much or more for 1 unit as I spent on 2!!
On plugs - this is a 2004 Arc which specs the double platinum NGK's. Other cars (older models) use the NGK basic copper plugs, and my understanding is that they are basically interchangeable except for service life... Is there any reason not to use NGK single platinums of the same spec? They are much more readily available and cheap... My SAAB tech often substitutes those iirc, but that was on our older saabs... I know to avoid iridiums (not sure why, just what I heard)... anyone with experience using single platinums in the 9-5?
