Yep , the front filler neck{plastic} seems to weep , not really leak on mine . I wrap a blue shop towel that has been folded several times around it . Replace it when saturated .
The valve cover gaskets are tricky . I use a thin smear of black ATV sealant on the gasket , and tack the little o-rings with vaseline . Overtighten and leaks will happen .
The oil pressure is so low at the top of these engines , and the pressure doesn't affect the overall running of the car . Most other cars will stall or conk out if the oil filler cap is removed while running , but the v6 has what I call a low pressure valve chamber . You can run without an oil cap for a week , and the hood liner will have a little stain .
An oil leak only happens with liquid oil . What happens with oil vapor is better called "weepage" , and it happens . Just Looks Bad . Leaks must not persist , and it takes multiple attempts to get it right .
When I put on a new cap and o-ring , it seems to push the oil weep to the base of the filler neck . and the shop towel does it's thing .
Since the v6 was made only 99-03 , any salvage parts are already almost vintage , but there are some nice parts out there .
