A 2002 auto trans. control module is plug and play except that a transmission adaptation needs to be performed after replacement. A tech 2 is needed to clear the adaptation and start the learning process for shifting pressure and points.
I think more information would help. Why do you think it needs a new control unit. In 2002 there are many potential issues with the 5 speed automatic. There was a bulletin issued that leads to potential repairs such as an updated program needing loaded in the control module, a new valve body needed in the transmission.
