Low charge from a bad cable?
It appears the problem is usually on one end or the other.
Instead of $140 factory cable, a $6 13" generic cable from the starter to the alternator to deal with one end.
The first time I did this I removed the factory cable and cut it off just past the starter connection, but this time I just doubled the cables between the alternator and the starter.
Much easier.
To deal with the battery end, in both cases there was not major corrosion, so I just used a big vice-grip to re-crimp the outer jacket over the cables.
In both cases I now don't have a my more issues.
