I have both and although I've owned my 9-5 wagon much longer and used to carry cargo more often, my gut feeling is that the cargo capacity is similar between the two. I did my research before buying the 9-3 wagon, and found the same thing said online. I still find my (long departed) 9k's cargo capacity more versatile than my 9-5 wagon though.
