Nothing new though... I brought home 4 2"x2'x8' sheets of rigid insulation (and a jackpost, a couple 2x4's and assorted other building supplies) *inside* our 1989 SAAB 900 *sedan* last night. Yup sedan. With the trunk closed. Back seat folds up, seat back down, front passenger seat cranked forward, everything passes through the trunk. Of course I also had more 2x4 and a stack of drywall on the roof. This thing has hauled more than most contractors' pickup trucks.
With the 9-5 sedan (couldn't find a wagon we were happy with at the time of purchase), I love the ski pass for lumber, and the split fold is also nice (c900 does not split or have a ski pass). Only thing is the structure for the split fold makes it tough to pass larger things through. The other downside of the 9-5 is the suspension gets ruined if you haul anything heavy. I drove a load of tile once in a c900... all 4 wheels were deep in the fenders!! don't like doing that though! I hauled some loads of stone once in both the 9-5 and the c900's and it really killed the 9-5 rear suspension, and had no impact on the c900's... and this was nothing like that tile load!
Tulsaab's advice is useful - I had never thought to remove the seat bottoms assuming it would take too much time... will keep that in mind!
