jalousie fix then no start

I've got a 2002 Linear wagon with 116K. Just replaced the jalousie today (using the quicker, "cut" method), reconnected the winter mode button, and the car won't start (barely even cranks). Double checked that the 3 wires were connected to the right connectors, things seated correctly, etc. Tried disconnecting battery and reconnecting. Still no start.
Then it gets a little weirder: driver's seat tips forward on its own, needle gauges twitch and jiggle (for about 3-4 seconds) AFTER I stop cranking the engine.
Other thing I noticed: When I step on brake before turning the key, I'm not hearing the click of the shifter lock.
What did I do? Ideas for a fix? Thanks for any and all ideas.
