The radio in our '04 9-5 does the same random source switching, as well as random on and off. With winter tires (205/55TR16) the problem is not as prevalent. When the summer 225/45YR17 tire wheel combination goes on and I hit a large pothole the problem comes back. The issue is highly dependent on sudden jolts and the higher amplitude NVH levels associated with lower profile tires. I also found that removing the radio and SID and then reinstalling them seems to help. Next attempted band-aid will be De-oxit followed by conductive paste on the radio terminals and SID terminals. I have two SIDs and the problem is worse with one versus the other. The newly purchased but used and slightly older SID made the problem vanish for months.
We have a SAABAux box in the car too but I'm not sure if that is related or not.
I suppose the next step following electrical connection triage would be to replace the radio. I would assume Goldwing sells non-paired (divorced) radios. I'd then need one of my local indies to pair it to the bus in our 9-5.
